Lessons motherhood and maternity leave has taught me which I’ll be returning back to business with

🥞Learn how to cook pancakes.

Simon Sinek said it best when claiming the first pancake you cook will always be the worst. It’s lumpy, runny and you’ll probably feed it to the dog. Same goes for your first draft of a campaign, proposal or GTM plan. Add some flavour, cook it a bit longer and taste test before serving.

🫐You’ve got to throw things at the wall and see what sticks.

You don’t know that avocado sticks to the wall and blueberries bounce until you give them a good overarm throw at a white wall - proven by my toddler.

Point being, you might like the shade of blue splattered on the wall, providing you inspiration for your next project which puts you on the map. But, had you not thrown said blueberry at the wall in the first place, the inspo may have never landed!

🤪Tantrums allow for breakthrough moments.

You’re going to get frustrated, hit roadblocks and have to share with others. You’ll have to learn to regulate your emotions and internal processes in order to see every lesson as a blessing, and when you do, you’ll experience moments of profound growth that you’ll be thankful for with hindsight…even though you may have kicked and screamed the entire way through!

💩Poonamis happen, particularly when you’re about to walk out the door.

Let’s be honest, poo had to make the list somehow. If there is one thing kids and business have in common, it’s going to get stinky, particularly when you least expect it! Set yourself up for success, risk manage where possible, plan for poonamis and ALWAYS have a backup plan (or pair of clothes)!
