My 3yo son and I play marble run event night before bed.
We continually talk about the foundations of the run having to be stable before being able to connect a slide or a loop, or the entire run will fall over.
It's kind of like being in business really.
The foundations are like the purpose - it needs to be defined or they can make or break a companies success.
The loops and slides are like the mission - its how you get there, something that will give the vision legs and traction. (relatable for those in rollercoaster businesses!)
The vision is the ultimate goal of achievement - in my sons case, the 'highest and fastest marble run in the world!'
So, when you're in business, rather than continually trying to build the highest, or the fastest growing brand by adding more loops and slides because you think it's going to get you there faster, sometimes it's best to pause and reassess your foundations.
Might share this story with Jackson when he's slightly older than 3 - for now i'll let him keep adding slides and loops where ever his imagination takes him!
